Why I quit Xocai

Dear Potential Xocai Distributor,

I wish someone had written this for me when I was researching this "business opportunity". Let me start by saying there is no benefit for me to keep this site up. Only that it will serve as a warning to others.

I found this product at a trade show in Chicago. I was researching products that had acai berry because it was a hot commodity online (not any more). Being a chocolate lover and the fact the product was vegan friendly I bought in as an executive and began promoting online.

My profession is internet marketing. So I built websites, lead funnels, even bought some of the pre made stuff being pushed by my up line. When I got leads they were poor. And I mean that in more ways than one. The people I heard from could not afford the cost of the product and had no business skills to speak of. I have a pretty good success rate of making things work online so I pressed on.

I signed up a handful of people in my first month, none of whom did 5% as much work as I did. I generated so much buzz so quickly that the up line was calling me. I realized things were not good when someone doing so little got so much attention. Some of them wanted me to teach them my methods. After working with these people I asked the same question. "Have you actually profited from this business?"

Nobody gave me a straight answer. Many said no.

I am not saying the product is bad. I like the nuggets. But $150 for a box of chocolate is just not scalable from a REAL business perspective.

Network marketing companies make their money because they know you will ask a few friends and family to join under you which gets you "emotionally involved" in your business. You stay committed to keep your family happy/committed.

I also found many distributors resorting to lying, saying that the product could REPLACE fruit and vegetable servings (we don't live on antioxidants) or that it helped them loose weight. The beauty of person to person marketing is that a company can take a stand against these claims but they still get used in the sales process by the desperate people who need you to sign up.

As an internet marketer I try dozens of new things each year, many succeed and many fail. For me this was a failure. Just to show you I gave it a fair try here are my profit and loss numbers.

2009 Profit and Loss for Xocai business venture.

$5,090 Spent on inventory (chocolate)
$9,761 Spent on business promotion

$329.50 Earned

-------------------
-$14,521.50 Loss

My advice to you is to not join as a distributor, or if you are loosing money as one then cancel your autoship and move on.
